Lohman Helicopter has an immediate opening for the position of Safety and Quality Assurance Manager (SQAM) with Fixed Wing Pilot Certification. We are looking for a candidate willing to make a long-term commitment, willing to relocate to the Lewiston, Idaho area. In addition to flight duties (turboprop aircraft) the candidate will perform duties as the company Safety Manager and will be responsible for directing and supporting the implementation of the station Safety Management System (SMS) and IS-BAO protocols. This position will formulate and administer safety policies and procedures to ensure conformity to company standards and compliance with regulatory requirements.

The preferred candidate will have an excellent work ethic, self-motivated, advanced PC skills, well organized, be able to multi-task, with a can-do attitude, a commitment to safety and the desire to promote a company- wide culture of safety. The candidate must have excellent communication (oral and written) skills.

Safety & QA Manager

Experience and proficiency in the following major areas preferred:

  • Title 14, Code of Federal Regulations, as they pertain to maintenance, flight operations, and repair

    stations for both rotary and fixed wing aircraft

  • Minimum 1 year of safety professional experience

  • Minimum of 3 years understanding of SMS processes to include development of SMS Programs.

  • Understanding of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Environmental

    Protection Agency (EPA) standards and regulations, with preference given for previous training in


  • Familiarity with assessing aviation safety management programs using Aviation Resource

    Management Surveys, IS-BAO, or other recognized tools

  • Respond to Corrective Action Requests (CAR)

  • Previous 121 Experience

  • Previous 135 Experience

  • Experienced in implementing safety training

  • Certified or acquire Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification within 24 months of hire date

  • The ability to cope with changing circumstances and situations with little supervision. The S&QA

    Manager acts independently of other managers and is responsible for providing information and

    advice to senior management on matters relating to safe operations

  • Analyze technical data for trends related to hazards, events and occurrences

  • Manage customers safety data audit platforms such as ISNetworld and Veriforce

  • Ability to organize a daily workload by priorities

    Fixed Wing Pilot – Qualifications & Licenses

  • Minimum 6 years’ experience as a professional pilot

  • Commercial Pilots License/First Class Medical

  • 3,500 hours PIC time – Airplane

  • 2,000 hours in an aircraft with retractable gear

  • 1,500 Turbine hours

  • 1,000 hours in a turboprop aircraft

  • 500 hours instrument time

  • 500 hours of unaided nighttime experience

  • IFR (poor weather)

  • Clean Driver’s Record
